A Newark man faces attempted murder charge after police allege in court documents that he fired a gun at multiple people June 21 inside an Etna Township home.
A Licking County grand jury on June 24 indicted Norman P. Doran, 47, with one count of attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault, with charge enhancers for having a firearm, and several lesser charges, Licking County Common Pleas Court records show.
Deputies responded June 21 to a report of a shooting in Etna Township after they allege in a criminal complaint that Doran fired multiple rounds at people inside the home. Deputies also allege they found bullet holes in the ceiling and walls and a gun that someone wrestled away from Doran.
Police allege in the complaint that Doran told them in an interview that he drank alcohol and that a victim told them Doran tried to shoot him after Doran began fighting with people during a cookout.
Deputies arrested Doran on June 21, and a judge set a $1 million bond June 22, court records show.
Doran is next scheduled to appear in court June 30 for an arraignment.
