Newark Catholic's Hutchison named Ohio State Wexner Medical Center Athlete of the Week

Newark Catholic baseball player Miller Hutchison is the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Athlete of the Week for June 9-15, the final such honoree of the 2024-25 school year.

Hutchison struck out 10 in 3⅔ innings of one-hit relief and went 3 for 4 with two runs scored in a 6-4 win over Tiffin Calvert in a Division VII state semifinal.

He received 35.6% of the vote, edging Olentangy baseball player Rocco Bucci, who received 32.8%.

Bucci pitched six innings in a Division I state semifinal, allowing one run on three hits and four walks with four strikeouts as Olentangy defeated West Chester Lakota West 3-1.

Also nominated were Licking Valley baseball’s Evan Lichtenauer and Evan Roberts, New Albany baseball’s Cam Simmons and Olentangy baseball’s Cameron Birch.

The Athlete of the Week will resume in August.
