Motorcycle crashes claim 2 lives in 2 days in Cincinnati region

A Green Township man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Indiana on June 1, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

Jeffery Ogle, 67, was driving his 2007 Harley-Davidson on Indiana 252 when he left the road and struck a fence, investigators said.

“For reasons unknown, Ogle lost control of the motorcycle and went off the north side of the roadway,” according to a press release.

Ogle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office reported a second motorcycle death occurred on June 2. John Messer, 62, of Arlington Heights, died after a crash, officials said.

Few details about Messer’s death were available at the time of this report, which shows he may have been at the Mercy Health Harrison Medical Center.

Motorcycle deaths spike in Ohio each May and remain elevated each summer. There have been at least 36 deaths related to motorcycle crashes in the state so far this year.

Last year, a total of 215 people died in Ohio in these crashes.
