The Mid-American Conference is revising the format for the 2027 MAC tournament, according to a report August 12 from Jon Rothstein.
The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds would receive byes into the semifinal round, according to Rothstein, while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds receive byes into the quarterfinal round.
After completing a perfect 2025-26 regular season, the Miami RedHawks lost to UMass in the opening round of the MAC tournament.
Akron defeated Toledo to earn the MAC’s NCAA tournament automatic bid.
The RedHawks earned an at-large bid, and defeated SMU in the NCAA Tournament’s First Four before falling to Tennessee in the round of 64.
Miami was the first-ever MAC team to play in the First Four in Dayton.
