The Bloom Township Board of Trustees and Village of Lithopolis invite community members to a day of remembrance and festivities on Memorial Day in Lithopolis.
As a preview to the holiday events, the festivities will begin a day early when the movie “The Incredible Mr. Limpet” will be shown on the big screen next to Wilson Park in the center of downtown Lithopolis at 9 p.m., May 24.
Memorial Day morning begins with a parade sponsored by American Legion Post 677. The parade steps off at 10 a.m., from the Legion on Smith Road, proceeds north on Delaware Street, turns right onto Columbus Street, and concludes at Lithopolis Cemetery, where there will be a featured speaker.
Following the Memorial Day service at the cemetery, Bloom Township Firefighters will be hosting their annual open house at Station 551, 66 N. Market Street. Throughout the day, firefighters will be selling their famous pulled pork sandwiches. There will also be Buckeye Pedal Pullers kiddie tractor pulls during the event.
The Wagnalls Memorial will feature activities including a book sale, art show, music, plant sale, a car show, and more on the grounds.
In Canal Winchester, in remembrance of fallen veterans, VFW Post #10523 will host Canal Winchester’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Memorial Day at Union Grove Cemetery (400 Winchester Cemetery Road). The ceremony will feature a keynote speaker, announced at a later date. Other ceremony participants will include Boy Scouts Troop 103, Cub Scouts Troop 103, and the Canal Winchester High School Band. Immediately following the Canal Winchester Memorial Day Ceremony, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will host a flag retirement ceremony on the cemetery grounds. Lawn chairs or blankets are encouraged for seating.

Golf outing

Church concert
Bryan and Yvonne Hutson with Rescue Me Ministries will be in concert at 6 p.m. May 23, at Wildermuth Church, 3405 Carroll-Eastern Road. There will be Southern gospel favorites, worship music, and an encouraging message for all ages. The concert is open to the public. For more information, call (740) 756-9265.
Wildermuth Memorial Church also announced a new monthly Gospel Sing beginning at 5 p.m. May 30. The singing will be held the last Saturday of each month at the church.
Hosted by Don and Sylvia Lemley, the evening will feature gospel music and fellowship. Special guests for the first sing include Kameron Waits, John and Debi Levier, and the River Valley Boys and Jan.
There will be a potluck dinner. A love offering will be collected during the evening to support the ministry and musicians.
