Ohio State football wide receiver Jeremiah Smith thinks Darrell K. Royal Stadium could get louder than Ohio Stadium.
In a CBS Sports Instagram post on July 30, Smith was handed a schedule and asked to circle the game he is most excited for in 2026. He quickly picked the Week 2 nonconference matchup against Texas, a rematch between the coach-quarterback duos of Ohio State’s Ryan Day and Julian Sayin and Texas’ Steve Sarkisian and Arch Manning.
“I circled [the] Texas game because you hear a lot about their stadium and how loud it gets. And it’s our first big away game, so I’m excited for it,” said Smith
Smith was also asked if he believes Texas’ stadium is louder than The Horseshoe.
“I think it might be louder, I’m not going to lie. … It’s going to be a crazy atmosphere, and it’s at nighttime, so it’s going to be rocking for sure,” he added.
The Longhorns play at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, which has an official capacity of 100,119. The NCAA lists it as the seventh largest in college football. Ohio Stadium is the third biggest with an official capacity of 102,780.
The Buckeyes last played in Darrell K. Royal Stadium in the 2006-07 season; Ohio State won 24-7. In 2025, Ohio State beat Texas 14-7 at Ohio Stadium.
