ACTION: The township plans to renovate a dozen baseball-softball fields in township parks.

DISCUSSION: The board approved advertising for bids for the upgrades. The township got a $250,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to use to tackle 12 fields.

There are three in North Park at Fulton Drive and Wales Avenue NW, seven fields in South Park by Jackson High School and two fields in Fisher Park off Lake O’Springs Avenue NW.

Public Works Director Rich Rohn said the upgrades includes removing all of the existing materials, grading, field conditioning and planting.

“Those fields have not been touched in decades, and they all have long-term …. drainage and other issues,” Rohn said. “We hope to be able to upgrade all of the fields, but it depends on the cost for each field.”
