The Pioneers (1-0) started their season with a win over Logan Elm in an offensive slugfest.
Running back Brice Johnson tied his own single-game school record with five rushing touchdowns in the victory while tallying 220 yards on the ground. He was flanked by teammate Jake Stauffer added north of 100 rushing yards and a score, alongside a 51-yard touchdown reception.
Brysen Payne threw for two touchdowns and Mason Hartley found the end zone with a touchdown reception.
Southeastern 28, Fairfield Christian 0
In a shutout win over Fairfield Christian, the Panthers (1-0) started their season on the right foot.
Quarterback Brayden Burns had a stellar evening, going 4-for-7 through the air for 203 yards and two touchdowns alongside 57 rushing yards and a score. He also intercepted two passes on the defensive end — one of which was returned for a touchdown.
Landyn Smith was on the receiving end of each of Burns’ four completed passes and also added an interception. On the ground, Cam Stotridge carried the ball 12 times for 63 yards while Cam Smith had 10 rushes for 42 yards.
Piketon 41, Northwest 0 (Thursday)
Behind 354 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, Piketon (1-0) began its season with a win over Northwest on Thursday evening.
Marquis Robinson led the way with 10 rushes for 116 yards and a touchdown, and Tanner Loar ended the night with 14 carries for 98 yards and a score. Quarterback Nolan Childers also helped out, completing 3-of-4 pass attempts for 101 yards and a touchdown alongside 24 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.
Meanwhile, the Redstreaks’ defense held Northwest to just 34 yards on 18 carries.
