Heat dome to bring 95 degree weather to Marion

The summer heat will hit central Ohio just in time for July Fourth weekend.

Temperatures are expected to reach more than 90 degrees in Marion by next week. Here’s what to know and how to stay cool during the heat:

How hot will it get in Marion?

Starting June 29, the National Weather Service expects a heat dome to descend over central Ohio. For Marion, the NWS predicts temperatures go as high as 95 degrees by June 30.

Overnight temperatures will remain warm, with the NSW service forecasting temperatures to stay around 75 degrees in the evenings.

What is a heat dome?

Heat domes occur when regions with high pressure trap heat, preventing it from rising.

Within the dome, temperatures can be driven up by 30 degrees above normal and can lead to multi-day heat waves.
