Haunted attractions you need to hit up before Halloween in Cincinnati

Spooky season has officially arrived!

You macabre-loving weirdos can get your fright on in numerous ways around Greater Cincinnati. From spine-tingling walks through the woods to terrifying encounters with ghouls and goblins, here’s a look at when the big-name haunted houses are open for your dark delight.

Through Nov. 2: Land of Illusion Haunted Scream Park

This park features six attractions: Dr. Psycho’s Haunted Estate, Killer Klowns Haunted Maze, Middletown Haunted Trail, Phobia Haunted House, Temple of Terror Haunted House and a brand new Lights Out Haunted House. The park will also feature the following themed weekends:

Through Nov. 8: Dent Schoolhouse

This Halloween tradition features a murderous janitor who has taken over the schoolhouse, along with his wicked friends. Admission includes Monster Midway, the Cincinnati Haunted House Museum and the Jack O’ Lantern Showcase. Mini-escape room experiences and axe throwing for purchase inside Monster Midway.

There’s a Lights On tour on Oct. 19 and a Lights Out tour Nov. 7-8. Ghost tours will also take place every Wednesday in October.

Through Nov. 1: Brimstone Haunt

Attractions include Haunted Hayride, The Bog and Psychosis. The scream park also features Zombide Assault, Cranium Crusher, Axe Throwing, Operation Doom and Hallow-Ring Toss.

Through Nov. 8: USS Nightmare

Two decks of nightmarish fun awaits on this steam-powered dredge boat on the Ohio River. Those wanting to level up the scary can opt for the RIP Experience, which is an intense, immersive and more interactive experience. There’s a Lights On matinee from 4-6 p.m. Oct. 26. The Captain’s Extreme Tour runs from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. Nov. 7-8.

Through Nov. 1: Halloween Haunt at Kings Island

Kings Island amusement park is transformed into an immersive haunt with scare mazes, fright zones, hundreds of horrifying characters lurking in the fog, and Halloween-themed live entertainment. Some rides are also open, including The Beast, Orion, Diamondback, Mystic Timbers and Banshee. Halloween Haunt is not recommended for those under the age of 13.

Through Nov. 1: Nightmare Manor

Haunted house with intense scenes and horrifying surprises.

Through Nov. 2: Cincinnati Fear Fest

From the creators of Terror Town, the Cincinnati Fear Fest features several attractions including the Pockets Playhouse haunted house, The Shadowlands haunted trail, Detox haunted house and the new Burn Yard haunted house. Live music and entertainment is also included.

Cincinnati Fear Fest will host Glowstick Fright Nights Nov. 1-2, where lights are out and you navigate the haunted houses with only one glow stick per group.

Through Nov. 1: Twisted Trails

Explore two haunted trails and the harrowing hallways of Muck Manor.

Through Oct. 25: Mt. Healthy Haunted Hall

The Mount Healthy Haunted Hall features several large tents, a backyard area and giant vortex tunnel. The haunted hall also includes classic favorites like the Wolfman, Frankenstein and Zombies. A special Lights On trick-or-treat night will take place on the second to last weekend.

Through Nov. 1: The Field of Nightmares

Immersive haunted experience winding through an indoor cornfield. Towering stalks close in around you as the path twists into frightening scenes and spooky shadows.

Haunted tours in Cincinnati

These haunted tours are less jump-scare, more bone-chilling. Plan early, because these fill up frightfully fast.

Cincinnati Booze and Boos: 7-10 p.m. Thursday-Saturday through mid-November. This two-and-a-half-hour walking tour will stop at three haunted bars. Tours start at Queen City Radio, 222 W. 12th St., Over-the-Rhine. Ages 21-up. $29.95-up. nightlyspirits.com.

Cincinnati Ghosts: 8 p.m. daily. Walking tours run 60-90 minutes and begin in front of Memorial Hall, 1225 Elm St., Over-the-Rhine. $26, $17 for ages 7-17. cincinnatighosts.com.

Clifton is Haunted: 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, through Nov.1. Walking tour exploring haunted streets and historic sites. Tours begin at 3317 Clifton Ave., Clifton. $32. americanlegacytours.com.

Covington Haunted & Historic: 7 and 9 p.m. Saturdays and Halloween, through Oct. 31. Walking tour explores the controversies, feuds and spirits that still haunt the grounds of this river city. Tours begin outside The Gruff, 129 E. Second St., Covington. $32. americanlegacytours.com.

Darkside of Brewing: 6 and 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, through Nov. 29. Two-hour walking tour touches on the gruesome and macabre events of the city’s past, including grave robbing, a serial killing saloonist and other deadly mayhem. Includes flashlight tour of Imperial Theater, the 19th-century Jackson Brewhouse and a pint of beer. Starts and ends at Northern Row Brewery, 111 W.
