Food, music, fireworks. What to expect at Canton Twp. Community Day

CANTON TWP. – The township’s annual Community Day is returning June 20 at 1001 Faircrest St. SW.

The tradition at Faircrest Park first began in 2018 and has grown every year, with the exception of 2020.

Township officials said Community Day 2026 will celebrate America’s upcoming 250th birthday. Flags will be displayed ahead of the event along Faircrest Street, starting June 15.

“We are all excited to really put together a program that takes all the favorite aspects, from music to fireworks, and kick it up a notch this year in honor of America 250,” Canton Township Trustee Mark Shaffer said.

Event festivities are set to begin at 4 p.m. with music and activities for children.

Shaffer said the day was planned with families in mind, including inflatables and rides from the Tuslaw Lions Club train.

Food trucks planning to participate include Rosie’s Rolling Grille, Casey’s Snack Shack, Papa O’s Concessions, Here’s the Scoop, French Fries, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee, Tropical Sno on the Go, JD’s Gourmet Hot Dogs, Life is What You Bake It, Pizza Oven and Wagler Farms.

At 7 p.m., Flashback CLE will perform, covering hits from the 70’s-present. The band covers artists ranging from Stevie Wonder to Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift.

The firework show will begin at 10 p.m. The show has been choreographed to music. Shaffer said he recommends viewing the show from inside the park for the best experience.

A shuttle will transport families from Faircrest Memorial Elementary at 616 Faircrest St. SW to the park.

Shaffer said residents can expect a wholesome day, where attendees are invited to put down their electronics and connect with one another.

“I look forward to … the gathering of friends and family from the community and those that visit outside the community,” he said.
