Flying Pig Marathon: How’s the weather?

Conditions are generally pleasant for a Sunday marathon, said meteorologist Logan Clark with the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

No rain is expected during the day, he said, and there may be a light breeze as runners make the 9-mile pig-rimage.

However, wakeup temperatures are expected to be cold.

It’s expected to be around the low 30s when the marathon and Paycor Half Marathon are scheduled to begin, Clark said. There could also be areas of front before 8 a.m., according to the weather service forecast.

Temperatures should warm to the mid 50s by noon and peak around the mid 60s at 4 p.m., Clark said. Runners should prepare for a chill until then, he said.
