Fire damages Perry Township home

PERRY TWP. – A pair of residents were displaced from their home following a fire the afternoon Feb. 25 in the 3400 block of Briarwood Avenue NW.

Perry Township Fire Chief Larry Sedlock said the blaze was reported at 12:02 p.m. and scorched much of a top-floor bedroom and windows of the two-story residence.

“There was significant damage to the bedroom, and heavy smoke was visible as we came in,” said the chief, adding that no one was injured.

Firefighters had the blaze under control within 20 to 30 minutes, Sedlock said. The cause is under investigation.

An estimate of the damage was not immediately available, Sedlock said.

Perry firefighters were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Massillon, Canton Township and North Lawrence fire departments.
