A woman’s drunken driving caused the death of a passenger who was ejected from a vehicle during a Northern Kentucky crash, according to a criminal complaint.
Fancie Orr, 21, was driving a Ford Escape on southbound Interstate 75 in Erlanger when she struck a guardrail around 3 a.m. on April 20, according to the complaint filed by police in Kenton County District Court. The collision caused the passenger-side door to be ripped from the vehicle, and Orr’s passenger, Javier Lemus of Cincinnati, was ejected onto the roadway.
Lemus was then struck by a semitruck, the complaint said. The driver of the semitruck stopped and was cooperative with the investigation.
Orr was charged on July 16 with vehicular homicide under the influence of alcohol.
She was driving 100 mph in the seconds leading up the crash and 80 mph at the time of the crash, the complaint says.
“A blood sample was taken from Orr after the crash which showed her Ethanol level was.170g/100mL which is well in excess of Kentucky’s legal limit,” court records state.
Her first court appearance is scheduled for July 31, records show.
An attorney for Orr was not listed in court records at the time of publication.
