Daughters of Penelope of Stark County honors 11 debutantes

CANTON ‒ The Daughters of Penelope of Stark County honored 11 local high school seniors at the 58th annual Debutantes’ Ball on April 18 at Alex D. Krassas Event Center.

The Debutante Ball began in 1969 to honor Stark County high school senior young women of Greek descent. Each year, two debutantes receive $1,000 scholarships.

This year’s debutantes are Sophia Brown, Paisia Kantzos, Panagiota Tzouloufis, Alexandra Amentas, Eleni Miller, Emily Hallaman, Alexia Zenallis, Hannah Shiepis, Cheyenne Kyriacou, Alyssa Koehler and Alalyna Linquist.

Serving as general chairperson of the 2026 Debutantes’ Ball was Marcia Bournelis with Mary Griveas as her protocol chair. Other committee members include Carrie Foradis and Dina Grunder, scholarship; Frances Pantelides, tickets; Stephanie Likouris, hospitality; Eleni Paxos, refreshments; Phaidra Sotiropoulos, stage and table decorations; Erin Foradis, bouquets; Maria Paxos-Kalaitsides, photography; Stephanie Withers, program; Carolyn Hill, treasurer; Linda Andrews-Natale, honorary chair, as chapter president, and publicity.

Founded in 1929 the Daughters of Penelope is a leading international philanthropic organization for women whose mission is to promote the ideals of Hellenism, education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, and individual excellence. The Canton Chapter recently celebrated its 91st anniversary.
