A Columbus local placed as second runner-up in the Miss Ohio’s Teen competition, and a Chillicothe teen won.
The competition, with 18 contestants, was hosted in Mansfield on June 18.
Cassie Mattson, a high school graduate who is attending Ohio State University in the fall, is Miss Shawnee’s Teen and was second runner-up. She got a $900 scholarship and won for her talent, Irish dancing, and for the interview portion.
Allison Payton, 17, won the title and will get a $2,500 scholarship. Payton is Miss South Central’s Teen and will be a senior at Zane Trace High School in the fall. She will be part of the Miss America’s Teen competition.
Contestants took part in health and fitness, talent, interview, evening gown and on-stage conversation portions of the competition, hosted by the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program nonprofit.
Who were the other runners-up?
Fourth runner-up was Miss Buckeye State’s Teen Chloe Maybin of Wheelersburg, receiving a $700 scholarship.
Third runner-up was Miss Northern Ohio’s Teen Maria Pitchford of Cincinnati, receiving an $800 scholarship.
First runner-up was Miss Miss Maple City’s Teen Aly Kramer of Sagamore Hills, receiving a $1,000 scholarship.
Miss Mansfield’s Teen Abigail Kern was awarded the Be Real Award and a $100 scholarship. Miss Chillicothe’s Teen Lindi Flaig of Piketon received the Paul Herlihy Memorial Award, with a $250 scholarship.
Miss Ohio competition starts June 19
The Miss Ohio first preliminary night will begin at 7 p.m. on June 19. All portions of the competition will take place at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield.
The second night of preliminary competition starts June 20 at 7 p.m.
On June 21, it’s the finals, where a new Miss Ohio will be crowned. The show begins at 7 p.m. The winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship and the opportunity to compete at the Miss America competition in January.
