Canton police identify second suspect in Richard Poole murder

CANTON − Police detectives have identified a second suspect in the May 24 shooting death of Richard A. Poole of Canton.

Police Chief John Gabbard said in a prepared statement on May 26 that an arrest warrant has been obtained for Larry G. Grimes, 45 of Canton, charging him with murder.

Poole, 51, was shot once in the chest at an apartment on Alan Page Drive SE, police said. He died at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where he was taken by Canton Fire Department paramedics.

Gabbard said authorities received several 911 calls at 9 p.m. about a shooting. Poole was found in an apartment.

Daquan B.J. Rucker, 30, of Akron was taken into custody on the morning of May 25 by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and charged with murder. He is being held at the Stark County Jail.

Police have not released any details about what led to the shooting, which remains under investigation.
