As expected, the Cincinnati Bengals won’t be getting their reunion with DJ Reader.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Reader has signed a two-year deal worth $12.5 million to join the New York Giants.
The Bengals nixed any chance of a reunion with Reader when they traded the 10th pick to those Giants for Dexter Lawrence.
It’s a depth chart with Lawrence that is just too crowded now. BJ Hill is still there alongside TJ Slaton and free-agent signing Jonathan Allen, while they’re still hoping to get something out of Kris Jenkins, let alone perhaps McKinnley Jackson.
Even so, the Reader reunion idea was a fun one and who knows? Maybe that was on the list of possible plans before the Lawrence trade worked out.
