Bengals' heated Joe Burrow-Zac Taylor sideline exchange mystery solved

Last December, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow went viral when cameras picked up a heated sideline exchange with head coach Zac Taylor that featured plenty of obvious profanity and anger.

Even the most casual of lip-readers could pick up on some of what was being said.

But thanks to Netflix’s “Quarterback” releasing this week, we now have the whole exchange.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Dave Clark, Taylor started the exchange by saying this: “Way to finish the game. That’s a great drive finishing. I know it’s frustrating.”

Burrow wasn’t having it: “That’s an embarrassing performance by us. F—— embarrassing.”

And more, after a quick response from Taylor: “F— that. F— that. We sucked today. That was embarrassing. We jumped offsides f—— eight times.”

At the time, and surely still to this day, Bengals fans were with Burrow all the way in the exchange. The tense conversation happened during a too-close-for-comfort win over a Tennessee Titans team that won just three games all year and was marred by silly mistakes from across the roster.

If nothing else, the new Netflix show finally puts an exclamation mark on what had previously been a funny question mark around the team’s failed 2024 campaign.
