A Columbus construction company is offering a $100,000 reward for information about the car and driver involved in a Feb. 28 crash that killed a worker who was an Akron-area native.
The crash occurred around 2 a.m. Feb. 28 in a construction zone on Interstate 70 near state Route 315 close to downtown Columbus.
The car involved, identified as an early 2000s model maroon Toyota sedan, was headed west on I-70 when it struck a generator and then one of the construction workers. The car then fled the scene.
That worker, identified as 25-year-old Jordan Thomas, died from his injuries at the scene.
Kokosing Construction, where Thomas worked, is offering a $100,000 reward through Central Ohio Crime Stoppers for information about the vehicle and the driver involved in the crash that leads to an arrest.
Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS or email a tip in online at www.stopcrime.org. A special coding system is used so a person can remain anonymous but still be able to get the reward.
Thomas was a graduate of Manchester High School, according to an obituary in the Akron Beacon Journal. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 7 at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Road, with a memorial service to follow.
