Ohio State football has landed another top-ranked recruit from the class of 2028.
Quarterback Christopher Vargas announced his commitment to Ohio State on social media on Aug. 8, selecting the Buckeyes over Oregon, Michigan and 15 other power-four programs.
Vargas, who is entering his junior season at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, Massachusetts, is the second-ranked quarterback in the 2028 class, according to 247Sports. He ranks No. 4 overall. Vargas led St. John’s to the Massachusetts Division 1 Super Bowl and recorded over 1,800 yards and 24 touchdowns last season.
Before Vargas, the most recent five-star quarterback to commit to the Buckeyes was Bellefontaine, Ohio, native Tavien St. Clair from the class of 2025, who is entering his sophomore season at Ohio State as the expected backup to Julian Sayin.
The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Vargas joins the Buckeyes’ 2028 class less than two months Jett Harrison, the younger brother of former Buckeye wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr, committed to Ohio State.
