A northbound Honda CR-V driven by Ava Stamets crossed the median and entered the southbound lanes of the highway, striking a Ford F-150 driven by Donald Kalman, 50, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. The Ford drove off the road and overturned.

The Honda then struck a Ram 1500 driven by Samuel Hartman, 38, and both vehicles drove off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail, the patrol said.

Stamets was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.

The two other drivers and four passengers in the Ram were taken to the Southeastern Ohio Medical Center in Cambridge for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, but the patrol said drugs and alcohol are believed to be factors.

The Ohio Department of Transportation, Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Newcomerstown EMS, Tri-County EMS, Performance Towing, Affordable Towing and Countryside Towing also assisted at the scene.
