One person died and another was seriously injured after a June 14 motorcycle crash in Knox County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced June 15.
Harry Young IV, 39 of Mount Vernon, was driving a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on U.S. Route 36 near milepost 3 in Centerburg at about 6:25 p.m. Young drove off the right side of the highway, striking a traffic sign and a utility pole. Neither Young or the passenger, Samantha Hedrick, 36 of Mount Vernon, were wearing a helmet, according to the highway patrol’s news release.
Young was transported to Columbus’ Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Hedrick sustained serious injuries and was taken to Ohio Health Grant Hospital in Columbus. The highway patrol did not share Hedrick’s current condition.
The highway patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
