Funeral services for former Vice President Dick Cheney took place at the Washington National Cathedral Thursday, Nov. 20.
Cheney, part of an old Republican guard quickly vanishing in the era of Donald Trump, died at 84 years old on Nov. 4 following complications from pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease, USA TODAY reported.
Former President George W. Bush shared a heartfelt tribute to his former running mate as part of the funeral service. Bush relied on Cheney heavily to direct post-9/11 foreign policy during the early aughts.

Republicans and Democrats sit side-by-side in pews of National Cathedral
Several military pallbearers were seen to escort Cheney’s casket to the entrance of the Washington National Cathedral. A trio of clergy blessed the casket and led the procession inside at 11 a.m.
Family members followed.
A slew of notable guests, including living former presidents, vice presidents and members of Congress, Republican and Democrat alike, lined the pews inside the cathedral.
In attendance, and seated near each other, were former vice presidents, Dan Quayle, Al Gore, Kamala Harris and Mike Pence. Former President Joe Biden and first lady Dr. Jill Biden entered the cathedral at around 10:40 a.m. and promptly greeted Senator Mitch McConnell, as well the living vice presidents in attendance and sat with them.
Bush and wife Laura Bush soon followed and took their seats in the front row next to the Bidens.
The White House recently confirmed President Donald J. Trump would not attend Cheney’s funeral service. Former President Barack Obama had also informed the public he would be absent, USA TODAY reported. Former President Bill Clinton could not be in attendance due to a scheduling conflict.
