The Brooklyn Nets experienced the disappointing result of going from the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft to the No. 6 after the conclusion of the Lottery. Brooklyn has to move forward knowing that they will not be able to take any of the players in the top-4, but who are some of the players that the Nets have been linked to in multiple mock drafts?
In a consensus mock draft put together by Ben Couch for NBA.com, the Nets have been commonly mocked to taking Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr., Houston guard Kingston Flemings, and Illinois guard Keaton Wagler. With BYU forward AJ Dybantsa, Kansas guard Darryn Peterson, Duke forward Cameron Boozer, and North Carolina forward Caleb Wilson expected to be the first four picks, it makes sense that Brooklyn would be linked to some of the guards later in the draft.
“A combo guard with size, Wagler’s feel for the leather should keep this connector moving up boards even with a more ground-bound game,” Couch wrote on Wagler, who seems to be one of the best shooters in the entire class. Wagler could be an interesting choice for the Nets given his plus positional size, 6-foot-5 and 180 pounds, but he will have to prove that his shooting ability is good enough to overcome his athletic limitations.
“Most GMs would be wise to sign up the latest candidate to emerge from the John Calipari point guard pipeline: Acuff has everything but the height,” Couch wrote on Acuff. Among the guards expected to be selected from the 5-10 slots in the draft, Acuff seems to be the most interesting prospect due to his ability to score and make plays for others with the ball in his hands. His defensive flaws are considered to be his main weakness.
“Dinged for his height, Flemings delivered strong shooting performances and top-notch agility scores at the AWS Draft Combine,” Couch wrote on Flemings. While Flemings is not necessarily small for a point guard, he was measured with a 6-foot-3 wingspan despite standing at 6-foot-2, possibly indicating that his defensive viability in the league could be limited. Either way, these are the three guards that the Nets have been mocked to take at No. 6 come Jun. 23.
