It’s always fun when a new TV show drops on your favorite streaming service. But even more exciting is when that show includes familiar scenes.
Eagle-eye viewers may catch images of Rye when Apple TV+’s “Your Friends & Neighbors” premieres April 11. (This reporter is guessing we may see a Sunshine Roasters sleeve on a coffee after the show filmed there last April.)
Scenes were also shot at Woodlea in Briarcliff Manor, a Gilded Age mansion that’s now the Sleepy Hollow Country Club (all golf scenes were filmed here) as well as in Harrison, West Harrison, Purchase, Briarcliff Manor, New Rochelle and White Plains. New York City, Queens, the Bronx and a few New Jersey towns were also used.
The nine-episode drama, starring Jon Hamm, Amanda Peet and Olivia Munn, follows a hedge fund manager after he loses his job and resorts to stealing from his affluent neighbors in what’s called Westmont Village. (Dare this reporter guess if “Westmont” could be Westchester?)
Andrew “Coop” Cooper (Hamm), who’s also grappling with a recent divorce, soon discovers the secrets and affairs hidden behind those wealthy facades might be more dangerous than he imagined.

The series, which has already been renewed for a second season, is the brainchild of author Jonathan Tropper (“See,” “Warrior,” “Banshee”) who said in an Apple TV+ press release that it was a show he had in his head for years.
Viewers can expect two episodes to drop on the 11th followed by one new episode weekly through May 30.
“The fact that they’ve [Apple TV+] ordered a second season before we aired our first is an incredible validation and a tribute to the work of this stellar cast, as well as the crew, writers, directors and producers who worked so hard to make this show what it is,” said Tropper in a press release. “We can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
Tropper, it should be noted, was born in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and for a time lived in New Rochelle. He also taught at Manhattanville University in Purchase where he used to spend hours every day writing in the school’s library.
Tropper told The Journal News/lohud in 2014 that while his work is fiction, he sticks to what he knows, which leads friends to assume he bases his material on real-life experiences. “You create a character, you get into his head and then you start really empathizing and trying to think like him,” he said in the lohud interview. “That’s the beauty of it, the fun of it.”
