Strong winds shook the New York City metro-area on Monday, March 16, as a “megastorm” moved its way up the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast.
According to the National Weather Service, gusts were as strong as 42 mph in Westchester and 48 mph out on Long Island.
Power outages due to fallen tree limbs and wires left over 500 people in the Lower Hudson Valley without power. As of 9 a.m., 502 people in Westchester and 22 in Putnam remain in the dark.
Westchester County Airport experienced significant delays Monday morning and afternoon, with approximately 34% of flights cancelled by 1 p.m. and delays up to an hour. As of 9 a.m., only one flight remains cancelled, but 11 flights are experiencing delays.
