Westchester police officer charged with DWI following brother's fatal motorcycle crash

A Westchester County police officer was arrested in Lake George after a motorcycle crash that killed his brother early Sunday, authorities said.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said deputies, Lake George Fire Department personnel and Lake George EMS responded around 1:35 a.m. Sunday, May 31, to a motorcycle crash on Route 9 near the Nordick Inn.

Victim pronounced dead at scene

First responders rendered aid to Brian P. Kilduff, 31, of Brewster, who suffered severe injuries in the crash. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Brother arrested on DWI charge

Investigators said Brian Kilduff’s brother, Michael Kilduff, 33, of Pawling, was riding in the same group and was determined to have been operating a motorcycle while intoxicated.

Authorities said Michael Kilduff refused a chemical test and was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge.

Police officer identification

Public records show Michael Kilduff is a Westchester County police officer who most recently served as a school resource officer at an elementary school in North Salem.

The USA TODAY Network’s New York Connect Team has reached out to the Westchester County Police Department for comment.

Court appearance pending

Michael Kilduff is scheduled to return to Lake George Town Court at a later date.
