They could not, would not be denied.
No BS Brew Co., which has locations in Livonia and Victor, steamrolled the competition in the inaugural Democrat and Chronicle Fall Beer Bracket Challenge, crunching a valiant Knucklehead Craft Brewing for the overall crown.
After more than a month of voting — remember, temps were in the 70s when the voting started and now there’s snow on the ground! — No BS Brew’s When Pumpkins Attack emerged as the top quaff in the Finger Lakes and Monroe County from a field of 24 fall beers produced by craft breweries from eight counties in the Finger Lakes.
Wow!
No BS Brew knocked off some heavy hitters along the way, including Keuka Brewing Co. in Hammondsport to take the Finger Lakes crown and Naked Dove Brewing Co., Three Heads Brewing and Runaway Blue Brewing Co. just to get to that point.
Finger Lakes folks clearly love their fall craft beers
A huge shout-out goes to the New York State Brewers Association for its Think NY, Drink NY 2025 New York Fall Beer Guide, which offered ideas for the brackets.
Also, thanks to the thousands of beer bracketologists who voted and to those voters who offered a formidable list of beer makers they passionately felt should have been included: Birdhouse Brewing Co. in Honeoye, Frequentem Brewing Co. in Canandaigua, Other Half Brewing in East Bloomfield and Canandaigua, Crafty Ales and Lagers in Phelps, and Noble Shepherd Craft Brewery in Bloomfield.
Next time, promise!
Who’s ready for summer?
All in all, it was great fun.
So much fun that we’re asking you to start thinking about your favorite Finger Lakes pilsners and lagers, kolsches and IPAs, and fruit-flavored sours and wheats that stock your coolers because we’re doing the bracket challenge again this summer.
Can’t wait.
