The incident occurred around 2 a.m. during a medical call and involved an assault on the EMS provider, according to Perinton Ambulance.

The paramedic was evaluated, treated and released. No additional details about the employee or the patient were released.

Officials condemn violence

“This is a difficult day for our organization,” said Robert Cieri, director of operations for Perinton Ambulance. “Our crews come to work to help people on their worst days. Violence toward EMS professionals is unacceptable.”

Cieri said the agency intends to press charges.

Investigation underway

Perinton Ambulance said it is cooperating with local law enforcement as the incident is investigated.

Operations have not been affected, and the agency continues to provide 24/7 emergency medical services to the Town of Perinton, the Village of Fairport and surrounding communities.
