The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two armed robberies early Friday morning that authorities believe are connected.
Wendy’s robbery attempt in Henrietta
Deputies were called at 12:07 a.m. Feb. 13 to the Wendy’s at 566 Jefferson Road in Henrietta after employees reported a robbery at the drive-thru window.
Investigators determined the suspects had fled before deputies arrived. According to the Sheriff’s Office, a male suspect displayed a handgun and threatened an employee working at the drive-thru window before climbing inside the restaurant. A second male, also armed with a handgun, followed him inside.
The suspects left shortly afterward without taking any money and drove away. Employees and witnesses reported that four men in total were involved.
Convenience store robbed in Penfield
About 1:30 a.m., deputies responded to Malcho’s Market at 480 Plank Road in Penfield after a clerk reported she had just been robbed.
The clerk told deputies that three men entered the store and approached the register. Two displayed handguns and demanded money. The clerk complied, and the suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a vehicle before deputies arrived.
Investigation ongoing
Based on similarities in the incidents, investigators said they believe the two robberies are related.
No injuries were reported in either case.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 as the investigation continues.
