The New York Jets activated nose tackle T’Vondre Sweat off the non-football injury list earlier this week.
Sweat participated in Monday’s training camp practice for the first time, taking part in 11-on-11 drills. The 366-pound interior lineman returns to practice at the opportune moment. There are less than two weeks remaining in training camp. The Jets will play their preseason finale on August 28. Less than 48 hours later on August 30, general manager Darren Mougey will be tasked with finalizing his 53-man roster. Once August 31 hits, the Jets will have 53 players and begin preparations for Week 1 versus the Tennessee Titans.
Sweat’s ramp-up period to be ready for his revenge game opportunity versus the Titans team that traded him to the Jets earlier this offseason starts now. Less than four weeks remain until Sweat plays in a matchup he’s undoubtedly had circled on his calendar all offseason long.
The Jets are invested in Sweat, who figures to play a massive role in improving their run-defense metrics. His injury welcomed some initial concern, but he’s returned to practice at the perfect time. The Jets need Sweat to stay healthy and effective, and things are currently on the perfect track.
Sweat landed in New York via trade with the Titans in February with Jermaine Johnson going the other way. For his efforts in Tennessee last season, Sweat Pro Football Focus graded him as the fifth-best overall interior defensive tackle in the NFL with an 83.4 overall mark, which included the outlet’s fourth-best run defending grade.
Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2026 NFL season.
