Tuxedo Union Free School District’s 2025-26 budget was rejected by voters — again.
In a June 17 vote, district residents rejected the district’s revised $15,096,754 spending plan by 306 to 290 votes.

This amended proposal included a tax levy increase of 1.628% and a tax rate increase of 1.49%.
What was in the original proposal?
The first budget proposed for the upcoming school year was $15,107,619 with a tax levy increase of 2.49%.
Voters rejected the plan by 401 to 313 votes on May 20.
What happens next?
The district Board of Education will now adopt a contingency budget.
“Our administration will work thoughtfully to craft a contingency spending plan that preserves as many core academic programs, supports and services as possible,” a district spokesperson said in an email statement.
A regular board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 18 in the multipurpose room at George Grant Mason Elementary High School, located at 11 Hillside Drive, Tuxedo.
The meeting is open to the public.
