The Spectator, eveningtribune.com’s print newspaper, is announcing a change in print frequency in response to shifting reader habits and rising print costs.
Beginning Oct. 1, subscribers will receive printed newspapers two days per week on Wednesday and Saturday, with 24/7 access to eveningtribune.com and the eNewspaper, a digital replica of the newspaper, seven days per week.
This change reflects a broader trend in the newspaper industry as more readers turn to digital platforms for news and information. The decision to adjust print frequency is aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of The Spectator.
“Like every business, we’re continuing to adapt to an ever-evolving digital world,” said local editor Chris Potter. “News moves faster than ever, and many of our readers want to stay informed through formats that match their busy lifestyles.
“We will continue to produce distinct local journalism while meeting readers where they are, whether that’s a Facebook Reel, an Instagram Story, on our app or our eveningtribune.com homepage.”
Like many newspapers across the country, The Spectator has faced increasing costs for printing and delivery.
At the same time, a growing number of readers are accessing news online. To keep the printed paper sustainable, The Spectator is adjusting how often print editions are being delivered to subscribers.
Newspapers will also now arrive by mail through the U.S. Postal Service.
Most subscribers will receive their papers on the publication day, but some could see delays depending on their delivery address and local postal routes.
The Sunday print edition will be rebranded as a weekend edition, featuring all the Sunday features included today, and will be delivered on Saturday with the regular mail. The eNewspaper will continue to publish local editions on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, with national editions available on Monday and Saturday.
All print subscribers will continue to have full digital access to breaking news updates, subscriber-only stories, video and audio features, obituaries, legal notices and classifieds at eveningtribune.com.
