SPRING VALLEY – A 30-year-old woman has been arrested on felony charges related to a stabbing and possessing the dangerous narcotic fentanyl after fighting with officers trying to arrest her, police said Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Shanice Ramsey is being held in the county jail after being arrested on Monday, Aug. 25, in connection with a stabbing that left a man bleeding from multiple wounds to his body, Detective Sgt. Randy DiPaolo said in a news release. The assault occurred at 1:15 a.m. on Aug. 19 near 11 E. Church St.
The man was listed in critical condition at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, police said. Spring Hill Ambulance Corps emergency responders treated the man and transported the man to the hospital.
Woman resisted arrest after stabbing, possessed fentanyl
The stabbing investigation led police to Ramsay. She is accused of resisting arrest and fighting with officers, DiPaolo said.
DiPaolo said officers found Ramsay possessed a quantity of fentanyl after her arrest.
Officers charged Ramsay with multiple offenses, including felony counts of first-degree assault and first-degree attempted robbery. She also faces misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
Ramsay is being held in the county jail in New City on $5,000 cash bail, or $10,000 secured bond, or $20,000 partially secured bond. Justice James Mellion set her bail conditions at arraignment.
