Court records reveal more details about the alleged incident at Geneva High School that led to the arrest of the former assistant principal.
Junior Nunez, 50, of Geneva, was arrested on December 2 and charged with:
Court records allege that on November 18, Nunez put his arm around a student in a “head lock” and proceeded to kiss the student on the cheek or neck area, causing the student to “be alarmed.”
Geneva City School District released a statement saying that Nunez was immediately placed on administrative leave from his position as assistant principal when the district became aware of the concerns. The district stated that he has since resigned and will no longer be employed with the school.
GCSD’s Superintendent, Bo Wright, stated that the district takes these allegations very seriously and has been cooperating with law enforcement.
“Our commitment to the safety, health, and well-being of our students and staff remains our top priority,” he wrote in the statement. “The high school continues to operate smoothly and safely under its established leadership systems.”
Authorities said they believe this is an isolated case and that no other students are involved.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police working alongside the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office and the Geneva Central School District.
