Rochester man pleads not guilty to 40-count indictment in alleged sexual assaults

A Rochester man accused of sexually assaulting eight people last fall pleaded not guilty Thursday to a 40-count indictment in Monroe County Court.

Ronnie Brooks, 29, was arraigned after a Monroe County grand jury returned the indictment, according to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.

Brooks faces multiple felony charges, including first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape, predatory sexual assault, second-degree strangulation, first-degree sexual abuse, attempted first-degree rape, attempted first-degree sexual abuse and third-degree rape. He is also charged with misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child and public lewdness.

Prosecutors say the alleged assaults occurred between Oct. 29 and Nov. 27 and involved eight victims. The Rochester Police Department’s investigation remains ongoing.

Brooks was remanded to the Monroe County Jail without bail and is scheduled to return to court on March 19.
