Past state champs among top seeds for Section 4 boys wrestling tourney

Top competitors in Section 4 will vie for berths in the New York state tournament when Binghamton’s Visions Veterans Memorial Arena hosts the Section 4 boys wrestling championships Saturday, Feb. 14.

Doors open to spectators at 7:30 a.m., with prelims in Division 1 and Division 2 scheduled to begin at 8:30. Championship finals in both divisions are slated for 5 p.m.

Titlists and those who earn at-large bids will compete in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships Feb. 27 and 28 at MVP Arena in Albany.

Among those in action Saturday will be two-time state champion Maverick Beckwith of Norwich and fellow returning state champ Declan McKee of Tioga Central. Both are juniors.

Beckwith, a state champ at 108 pounds in 2024 and 124 last year, is Division 2’s top seed at 150.

McKee is top seed in Division 2 at 110 pounds after claiming the 101-pound title last year.

Waverly’s Troy Beeman, a state champion in 2024, is the No. 1 seed in Division 2 at 285.

Horseheads (Division 1) and Windsor (Division 2) are defending team champions.
