Nets re-sign Josh Minott, Day'Ron Sharpe in NBA free-agency

The Brooklyn Nets came into this offseason knowing that they had to address certain matters before the 2026-27 NBA season comes around, specifically as it pertains to their impending free-agents. Brooklyn is done with the 2026 NBA Draft and while they have already dipped into the trade market, the Nets are already taking care of business with their own free-agents.

The Nets re-signed forward Josh Minott and center Day’Ron Sharpe to two-year deals on Monday, according to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania. Minott is signing for $9 million with a team option for the second year after having his $2.6 team option declined while Sharpe is signing for $20 million after having his $6.25 million team option declined one day after it was extended.

Sharpe, 24, is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he averaged 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 60.1% from the field and 67.8% from the free-throw line. With Nic Claxton being traded to the Chicago Bulls, Sharpe is in line to begin next season as the starting center, barring Brooklyn acquiring another center before the season starts.

Minott, 23, is coming off the best stretch of basketball in his four-year career after coming into the league as the 45th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Memphis. In his 16 games that he played for the Nets following the February deadline, Minott averaged 10.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 49.1% from the field and 39.5% from behind the three-point line.

After the re-signings of Minott and Sharpe, the Nets still have to figure out if they’ll be able to re-sign forward Ziaire Williams after his $6.25 million team option was declined. NBA free-agency officially begins at 6 PM ET on Tuesday so there is plenty of news to be disseminated over the next few days, but Brooklyn made sure to bring back two of their impactful rotation players from last season.
