Randy Vite, the head coach who turned around the fortunes of the SUNY New Paltz women’s lacrosse program over four seasons, has accepted another coaching position.
Vite has taken the head coaching position at NCAA Div. II Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Vite is a 2009 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, and played four seasons at Kutztown (2010-13). She later coached high school lacrosse in Colorado, at Colorado State-Pueblo, Aurora University and the University of Chicago.
Vite is the only coach in SUNY New Paltz history to compile a winning overall mark (42-26) and in the SUNY Athletic Conference (22-14). She led the Hawks to four playoff appearances and two postseason wins.
“It’s hard to put into words what the past four years at New Paltz have meant to me,” Vite said. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many passionate colleagues and truly remarkable student-athletes. This team has inspired me every day with their heart, dedication and belief in what we were building together.
“While this is a bittersweet moment, I will always carry my time at New Paltz with deep pride and gratitude,” she added. “I’m forever thankful the relationships, memories and growth that has shaped both me and the program.”
Vite’s New Paltz teams have produced 20 all-conference and six all-region selections — top SUNYAC position awards went to Kaitlyn Shaw, Morgan Atwater and Lexi Atwater. Nine of her players hold single-season or career records.
Vite led New Paltz to a school-record 14 wins in 2024 and 13 wins in 2025. The Hawks won at No. 19 Colorado College in March, the first over a nationally ranked program.
“We are thankful for Randy for building a solid foundation within our women’s lacrosse program,” said Renee Bostic, New Paltz’s athletics director. “We wish her nothing but success in the future. As we move forward, we’re looking for someone who is going to build upon our solid foundation and take us to new heights.”
