The Mohawk Valley is expecting a wet and cold Memorial Day weekend, according to the Binghamton National Weather Service.
Meteorologist Ema Sera said she hated to be the bearer of bad news, but a low pressure system is coming into the area starting on Saturday and will stick around long enough for Memorial Day festivities.
“People can expect rain showers starting May 23 and throughout the day and night, continuing into May 24, but there is potential for it to dry out in the latter part of the day,” Sera said.
That will just be a reprieve, before rain is expected to continue on May 25, Memorial Day.
“Unfortunately, Memorial Days is looking to be quite wet. Sorry for the disappointing news,” Sera said. “Temperature wise, it’s also not good news. [The average temperature] is expected to be in the upper 50s and low 60s. For the Utica area, we’re expecting it to be about 60 or so.”
