A new 90-minute episode of CBS’s ‘Big Brother’ will air tonight, Wednesday, Aug. 5.
We are on Week 4 of Season 28, with Haley Thogmartin as the current HOH- a first for her this season. On Sunday’s episode, Haley put Taylor Brown, Drew Campbell and Melody Morris on the block for a possible eviction.
The Power of Veto competition is the first chance the three get to take themselves off the block and secure safety for the week. While the Power of Veto competition was pre-filmed, those who aren’t tuned into the live feeds will get to watch it all play out tonight, along with the Power of Veto ceremony, which could lead to another houseguest potentially becoming a replacement nominee.

The three nominees, the HOH and a few other houseguests will get the chance to compete to win the Power of Veto.
If one of the nominees wins the Power of Veto, they can remove themself from the block, and then Haley, the current HOH, will have to put up a replacement nominee. If Haley or another houseguest that’s not on the block wins the veto, they could decide to keep the current nominations as they are.

What is a backdoor eviction?
A backdoor eviction is a common strategic move used throughout ‘Big Brother’ history that prevents the targeted houseguest from participating in the Power of Veto competition.
All three of the houseguests put on the block by the HOH get the chance to try and save themselves during the Power of Veto competition. Whoever wins that competition can use the veto to take themselves or someone else off the block.
In a backdoor eviction scenario, the HOH will typically nominate someone they want to go home and a “pawn,” who the HOH hopes will either win the POV or that someone else, not nominated, will win and use it on them to take off the block. If successful, the HOH will then put their actual target on the block as a replacement nominee, limiting this person’s chance to save themselves since the POV competition is already over.
We have already seen a handful of successful backdoor evictions this season. Will Haley use the same strategy this week?
