Mohawk Valley businesses and non-profit organizations that suffered damage to their operations in May due to frost, freezing temperatures, high winds and/or hail, may be eligible for a U.S. Small Business Association Federal Disaster Relief loan.
The Small Business Association said Aug. 5 the frost and freezing temperatures occurred May 11-12, and high winds and hail impacted the region May 13-14.
Eligible counties
Mohawk Valley region counties eligible to apply for the program due to frost and freezing temperatures include Herkimer, Madison, Oneida and Otsego.
Neighboring counties eligible to apply include Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis, Montgomery, Onondaga, Oswego, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie and St. Lawrence.
Mohawk Valley regions counties eligible to apply for the program due to high winds and hail include Madison and Oneida.
Neighboring counties eligible to apply include Cayuga, Cortland, Jefferson, Lewis, Onondaga, Oswego, Seneca, Tompkins and Wayne.
Eligible organizations
Types of businesses and non-profits eligible for the program include: small businesses, private nonprofits and faith-based organizations, small agricultural cooperatives, and small aquaculture enterprises.

The application process for either claim is the same, and businesses or organizations can apply at sba.gov/disaster.
The application deadline for Economic Injury Disaster Loans is March 23, 2027.
