Another action-packed week, one filled with big wins and milestone achievements, produced for us a dozen candidates for Girls Lacrosse Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital.
Our previous poll winners this season were Sofia Conners (Somers), Fin Degl (John Jay-Cross River), Emily Butler (Tappan Zee) and Amelia Walsh (Brewster).
Read below about what the nominees accomplished last week, then cast your votes. The poll will be open until 3 p.m. Wednesday and the winner will be featured on lohud sports social media accounts.
Lucy Bevilacqua, Mamaroneck
Had nine goals, an assist and nine draw controls in the Tigers’ win over Clarkstown South.
Ashley Cindrich, North Salem
The senior had four goals and an assist, including the 200th point of her career, while leading the Tigers to a 12-10 win over Section 9’s Highland. Cindrich also had four goals and two assists in their win over Tuckahoe.
Nicky Einhorn, Briarcliff
The midfielder scored three goals to Briarcliff in an 8-5 win over previously undefeated Eastchester, then she had three goals, six draw controls and two groundballs in the Bears’ 12-7 win over North Rockland.
Michaela Fay, Suffern
She scored 14 goals last week, leading the Mounties to wins over John Jay-Cross River and Section 2’s Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, and a second-half rally in an eventual 12-10 loss to Long Island’s Garden City.
Blythe Leahy, Clarkstown North
The Salisbury-bound senior made 56 stops with a .600 save percentage last week, despite facing a barrage of shots in three games.
Ava Muoio, Blind Brook
The sophomore made 19 saves in two games, stopping 62% of the shots in the Trojans’ wins over Sleepy Hollow and Dobbs Ferry.
Carleigh Ortiz, Hen Hud
The junior rang up nine goals for the Sailors in a 15-12 win over Carmel.
Paige Pena, Ossining
The senior had 14 goals, 10 assists, nine caused turnovers and 11 groundball recovers, leading the Pride to three wins last week. In a 21-20 win over Haldane, Pena scored six goals and notched her fifth assist on a pass to Kiera Sena for the winner in overtime.
Olivia Saccomanno, Brewster
The freshman had 12 goals and five caused turnovers, helping the Bears roll in wins over Ardsley and Pearl River last week.
Samantha Schultz, Pleasantville
The freshman had 10 goals and two assists last week, eclipsing 100 career points and 200 draw controls while helping the Panthers add another two wins.
Maya Torgalkar, Rye Country Day School
The midfielder totaled 11 goals, five assists, 22 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers in three wins last week. She had three goals, an assist, six draw controls and three forced turnovers in the Wildcats’ 13-9 win over Bronxville.
Beau Whaling, Rye
The senior had two groundball recoveries and five goals, including the 100th of her career, leading the Garnets in a 15-9 win over Yorktown.
