Giants' Jaxson Dart happy with Malik Nabers' aura, Odell Beckham's leadership

Second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart sees two different but complementary forces already shaping the New York Giants’ offense as training camp opens.

The first is Malik Nabers. Dart said the wide receiver carries a distinct presence the moment he steps on the field.

“He definitely has a presence about him. There’s an aura that he has on the field that is exhilarating. It makes me happy,” Dart told reporters on Wednesday. “It makes everybody happy just to see him out there. . . I’ve got all the confidence in the world in him and his approach to the game, how much he’s missed being out there with the guys.”

Every time Nabers is involved, even in individual drills, the energy shifts.

“It’s Leek,” Dart added. “Every time he’s on the field, everybody knows where he’s at.”

Their shared time last season was minimal—essentially a quarter and one week of meaningful reps. That limited chemistry has made the early camp conversations, film sessions, and limited throws especially valuable. Dart praised Nabers’ approach to his recovery and called him an ultimate competitor whose mindset elevates those around him. The quarterback is confident the sky will be the limit once Nabers is fully available.

Alongside that presence is Odell Beckham Jr. Dart said he is excited about the veteran’s return and has been struck by how Beckham has handled it. Rather than making the comeback solely about himself, Beckham has focused on the teammates around him.

“I’m definitely excited about O. I think the big thing is you never know how somebody’s going to respond from having that time off coming back,” Dart said. “I think that his ability to pour into his teammates — and you would think a lot of times when there’s a big comeback that it’s about the individual himself, but he’s really just about the teammates, the guys around him.

“I’ve loved having him here so far. He’s just a great guy. He’s a great leader. He’s had the ultimate experience of the highs and the lows, and I think that the more that you’re able to communicate with him, get perspectives from him, with him also being, obviously, a really good player, is huge for our team.”

For a young quarterback still building his foundation, the combination of Nabers’ on-field juice and Beckham’s perspective offers two different kinds of leadership. Both are already leaving an impression.
