The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline rose to $4.13 this week, up 1 cent from last Monday, according to AAA. A year ago, the national average was $3.20.
New York prices climb
In New York, the statewide average also reached $4.13, increasing 6 cents over the past week and up from $3.11 a year ago.

Diesel and oil prices remain high
Diesel prices also increased. The national average rose to $5.65 per gallon, up 3 cents from last week, while New York’s average climbed to $5.95, up 4 cents.
Crude oil prices remained elevated, ranging between $101 and $103 per barrel, amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Prices briefly dipped below $100 before rising again, reflecting continued market volatility.
EV charging costs steady
Electric vehicle charging costs held steady. The national average for Level 2 public charging remained at 42 cents per kilowatt-hour, while New York’s rate dipped slightly to 40 cents. The state has more than 20,000 public charging stations.
Tips to save on fuel
AAA recommends motorists plan routes, avoid peak traffic times and combine errands to conserve fuel. Maintaining proper tire pressure, using cruise control and reducing excess weight in vehicles can also help improve gas mileage.
