The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double murder-suicide, according to a statement from law enforcement.
On August 7, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the residence located at 7625 McCormick Road, in the town of Madison, regarding a concern for welfare complaint.
Upon arriving at the residence, Madison County Sheriff’s Office officials say the first responding deputy could detect the strong odor of gas in the area and could hear gas escaping into the residence.
While observing the residence from the exterior, the first responding deputy saw two people, obviously dead, through a main level window.
Upon making entry to the home, a third person was located dead inside.
“At this time, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the deaths of the three individuals located inside the residence as a double murder-suicide,” Madison County Sheriff’s Office officials said. “This incident appears to be isolated in nature, and there is no danger to the public. Additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.”
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police.
