Details of veteran defensive lineman Greg Gaines’ deal with the Buffalo Bills have emerged.
According to Spotrac, Gaines signed a one-year, $1.4 million veteran minimum benefit contract with the Bills, which includes $137,500 in guaranteed money.
The Bills struck the deal with Gaines on Tuesday. Included in the deal is a $50,000 roster bonus. Gaines has a $1.2 million cap hit for the upcoming season.
Gaines was a low-cost signing for the Bills, who have now added depth to their roster in the interior ahead of the start of the 2026 NFL season.
The 30-year-old Gaines was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 134 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played for the Rams from 2019-2022 and won the Super Bowl with the team at the end of the 2021 season. Gaines also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2023-25. He recorded two sacks last season with Tampa Bay.
Gaines will get the chance to vie for a featured role in the Bills’ defense in the interior during the preseason, with the team’s next matchup coming on Saturday against the Browns. In the event that he sticks with the Bills throughout the entire 2026 NFL season, he will hit free agency next year.
