For the 183rd time, the county fairgrounds in Horseheads comes alive this week with a variety of entertainment, livestock competitions, rides and family fun, all part of the annual Chemung County Fair.
The fair, founded in 1841, opened from 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 29. It will be open from noon to 10 p.m. July 30 through Aug. 2. Midway rides, games and attractions will operate from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
Each day will also feature a different theme and free admission for various groups.

A variety of vendors will also be on hand during the week providing food, beverages, crafts and other items.
