Chance of showers through Memorial Day weekend in mid-Hudson Valley

Unfortunately for those planning parades, picnics and other events, the National Weather Service is predicting a chance of showers every day through the 2026 Memorial Day weekend.

On May 23, there is an 80% chance of showers in Orange County and a 90% chance of showers in Sullivan County after 8 a.m. In Dutchess and Ulster counties, there is an 80% chance of showers after 2 p.m.

Rainfall will range from one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch in Dutchess and Ulster counties to between one-quarter and one-half of an inch in Orange County.

High temperatures for May 23 will be in the low 60s in Dutchess and Ulster counties, the upper 50s in Orange County and the low 50s in Sullivan County.

Sullivan County could see east winds of 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph, on May 23. The other counties will see winds mostly less than 10 mph.

At night on May 23, there is a 90% chance of showers in all four counties. An additional one-quarter to one-half of an inch of rain is expected.

On May 24, there is an 80% chance of showers in Ulster County, a 70% chance of showers in Dutchess and Orange counties and a 50% chance of showers in Sullivan County before 2 p.m.

Otherwise, May 24 will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy, with high temperatures in the low 60s in Orange, Dutchess and Ulster counties, and the upper 50s in Sullivan County.

The night of May 24 will be cloudy, with lows in the low 50s in Orange, Dutchess and Ulster counties, and the upper 40s in Sullivan County.

There is a 30% chance of showers in Dutchess and Ulster counties before 8 p.m.

On Memorial Day, there is a 50% chance of showers in Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties and a 40% chance of showers in Dutchess County.

Otherwise, Memorial Day will be mostly cloudy, with high temperatures in the mid-70s in Orange, Dutchess and Ulster counties and the low 70s in Sullivan County.

The holiday weekend will wrap up on the night of May 25 with mostly cloudy skies in all four counties. Low temperatures will be in the mid-50s in Orange, Dutchess and Ulster counties, and the low 50s in Sullivan County.
